About: A new selective licensing scheme came into force in the London Borough of Redbridge on 1 November 2023.
The new scheme extends licensing to all private rented properties in the council wards of Valentines and Ilford Town that are not already licensable under the mandatory HMO and additional licensing scheme.
If you are unsure whether your property is within the designated area, you can use an interactive map on the council’s website to check.
When can I apply?
Redbridge Council started to accept selective licence applications for this new scheme on 1 November 2023.
To accompany your licence application, the council have told us you need to provide:

Electrical Installation safety certificate.

Gas safety certificate (if there are any gas appliances).

Energy Performance Certificate.

Landlord accreditation certificate (if claiming the accreditation discount)
How much will a selective licence application cost?
There is a fixed fee of £860 per property.
The fee is paid in two instalments: £320 at the time of application and the balance when the licence is ready to be approved.
There is a £35 discount for accredited landlords.
