London Property Licensing celebrates it’s first birthday!
On 21 April 2015, the London Property Licensing website was born. It had one simple objective – to try and cut through the jargon and provide simple, impartial and expert advice on property licensing and the regulation of private rented homes.
Looking back, the arrival of this new service could not have come at a better time. The regulation of the private rented sector had become increasingly complex. The London private rented sector comprised an ever growing patchwork of mandatory HMO, additional and selective licensing schemes, interspersed with HMO planning controls and with no overall coordination or understanding of what schemes applied where.
Whilst the roll out of new licensing schemes has continued apace, this website has at least provided a simple one-stop-shop information resource to help make sense of property licensing and all the other new regulatory controls.
When combined with our regular newsletter, Landlord Suppliers Directory and launch of a new licence application handling service, the business is continuing to evolve so we can provide our customers with added value.
So has it been a success? Well, we certainly think so and the positive feedback we receive suggests many others think the same. Starting with a trickle of website visitors last Spring, the popularity of this website has continued to grow, with over 120,000 page views in our first year. Our innovative service was also recently awarded best service provider in the private rented sector by the UK Landlord Accreditation Partnership, so we must be getting something right!
So today is an opportunity to stop, take a breath and reflect on what has been achieved. But most of all, we want to say a huge thanks to everyone who has helped to make this possible and for all your support and encouragement along to the way. We would also like to say a particular thanks to all our advertisers, without whose support we would not be able to provide this vital free service.
