Newham landlords – renew your selective licence by 14 July to save £350!
Newham landlords and agents who renew their selective licences by 14 July 2023 will be eligible for an early bird discount, reducing the application fee from £750 to £400.
Newham Council’s latest selective licensing scheme came into force on 1 June 2023. It applies borough wide except for the council wards of Royal Victoria and Stratford Olympic Park.
Within the designated area, a selective licence is needed for every house or flat let to a single household or two unrelated sharers.
HMO licensing schemes
The selective licensing scheme runs alongside mandatory HMO and additional licensing schemes that apply to Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs).
Whereas the mandatory HMO licensing scheme applies borough wide, the additional licensing scheme introduced on 1 January 2023 applies borough wide except for the council wards of Royal Victoria and Stratford Olympic Park.
Early bird application fee
The early bird selective licensing fee is only available for applications submitted by 14 July 2023. Thereafter, the standard fee of £750 per property will apply. Landlords must act quickly to benefit from the discounted rate.
There are some discounts listed for accredited landlords, and properties with an EPC rating of ‘C’ and above.
